Turtle Watching

 

Here's an interesting way to spend an evening.  Join us on a night time run to Isla Canas to watch the giant sea turtles come ashore to lay therir eggs (July through October) or, perhaps later in the season (October and November), to see the hatchlings make their march to the sea.  Either way, it's an exciting trip.

 

You'll start at Pedasi Sports Club in late afternoon where you will be taken by van by your guide to Canas, a one and a half hour trip.  At Canas, you'll meet up with your captain and boat for the 5 to 10 minute ride to the island.  If we're at low tide, the boat cant make it to the dock, so a little river wading might be in order.  At Canas, youi'll be met by your guide who will arrive in a horse drawn carreta (a two wheeled cart commonly used as an ox cart) and you'll climb aboard for the 10 to 15 minute crossing of the island to the beach where you'll begin looking for turtles.
